TRECYCLE 20 is a single day cycling adventure of 50+ miles on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, April 22, 2020. This year's adventure is an effort to raise support for planting native trees to replace trees lost in Montgomery County during last Memorial Day's destructive tornadoes.
TRECYCLE 20 this year partners with the Five Rivers Metroparks. Volunteers have nurtured thousands of seedlings to be distributed to residential home owners to plant in their yards. On April 18 hundreds of volunteers will be planting hundreds of trees in the worst damaged metro parks including Wegerzyn Gardens. Funds will be supporting this "healing nature" project of the Metroparks.
The April 22 TRECYCLE adventure will originate at Reiverscape Metropark, departing at 7 am and head to Brookville, Ohio on the Wolf Creek Recreational Trail. From Brookville the ride will make a 180 turn back to Dayton and trace the path of the tornadoes through Trotwood, Wegerzyn Gardens, north Dayton, then to the Mad River and Creekside trails to Beavercreek before returning to Riverscape. See map and details about the ride here. All are welcome to support with your presence on any part or all of the adventure.
Your voluntary financial support is welcome to help purchase the trees. If you can sponsor financially, the Healing Nature web page (Link here!) will be live and ready to accept your contribution. Donations may be made in any amount, but there is one special suggested sponsorship option:
$50 - sponsor one dollar per mile - Donors of $50 will receive one of two optional premiums - either a Picasso inspired "Bike Antlers" or an Ohio Star Quilt block. (These items are made of reclaimed materials so no new trees were harmed in the production of these gifts!)
Please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org when you make your donation to receive your premium as the Healing Nature portal will not notify me of your specific gift.
The funding goal of $1,000 will go a long way in planting as many seedlings in our parks as possible on April 18. All of the $1,000 in funding goes directly to plant trees and does not support other costs of the adventures. A TRECYCLING partner and Kettering resident __________ will match dollar for dollar another $1,000 this year. Any funds raised beyond the goal will help plant even more trees! Thank you.
