TRECYCLE 19 is a series of local cycling adventures in Kettering, Ohio during the week of April 20-28. This is an effort to raise awareness and support for planting native trees to replace ash trees lost to the Emerald Ash Borer.
TRECYCLE 19 kicks off Saturday, April 20, as TRECYCLE partners with the Kettering Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department for TreeFest, 9 am-noon. Cyclists will ride from Lincoln Park to Pondview Park in Kettering, Ohio to plant trees and help dedicate the city's Arbor Day Tree. Cyclists in support of TRECYCLE will meet at Lincoln Park at 7:30 am. More about the ride here.
Three other rides are scheduled for the week on Earth Day - April 22, Arbor Day - April 26 and Sat. April 27 with a goal of touring and visiting all 21 of Kettering's parks. See maps and details about each ride here. All are welcome to support with your presence on any or all the rides.
Your voluntary financial support is welcome to help purchase the trees. If you can sponsor financially, the Kettering Parks Foundation web page (Link here!) will be live and ready to accept your contribution. Here are a few suggested sponsorship options:
$10 sponsor one mile (All donors will be recognized for any amount large or small!)
$40 sponsor one sapling tree
$80 sponsor 2 trees
$150 sponsor 15 miles
$250 sponsor TRECYCLE 2019
The funding goal of $1,000 will plant 25 six foot sapling trees. All of the $1,000 in funding goes directly to plant trees and does not support other costs of the adventures. A TRECYCLING partner and Kettering resident Chuck Berry will match dollar for dollar another $1,000 this year. Any funds raised beyond the goal will help plant even more trees! Thank you.
